this one's for T.

My parents recently treated themselves to a
well- deserved holiday. In Paris. For 10 days. Please note that my skin has taken on a green tinge- the tinge of the green-eyed monster- that has only recently started to fade. But I digress. The trip was taken in celebration of 30 years of marriage. Sort of a second honeymoon, I suppose. And of course, being the fantabulously thoughtful parents that they are, they made sure that my sister and I were supplied with a Parisian fashion fix to help get us over the pain of being left here in the anti-fashion capital of the world whilst they went off to enjoy the City of Lights.

And they done good.

Behold:

The cow-hide bag, which is that perfectly rich hue of red and feels like butter;

The pashmina and silk pashmina that is warm, but not too warm, and makes me feel soooo cosmopolitan;

Also, here are my new boots. My love for them is pure.

Finally, and this is in no way related to the fashion-lover in me, here is my latest knitting project, which is ~2/3 complete. Rudimentary, I know, but they should get the job done. What do ya'll think?

They're meant to keep my hands warm at the office, which is notoriously chilly in the winter...

My Dad has taken to calling me Bob Cratchet whenever he sees them. Hee.

And yes, Therese, I will be starting work on the shawl soon. I'll keep you up to date!

And yes, I am aware that vegans everywhere are likely taking contracts out on my animal-product loving life. Bring it. I'm ready.

Ahhhhhhh! I love it!!!! Love Love Love!

1. That pashmina is totally you. Seriously, totally, 100% you.

2. The bag. Makes. Me. Hyperventilate.

3. Your knitting has progressed so much! I miss SnB. :) The fingerless gloves looks like they'll do the job, and they are quite cute, Little Matchstick girl. ;)

4. Those are some seriously. Seriously. Adorable. Boots. I hope they're comfy for your feetsies because I get the impression that you would totally wear them anyway. Hee. That's my girl.

5. No seriously. The boots. They are so cute. They are a crescendo in shoe form. I approve.

Could you make me some gloves like that? Pretty please? I think they are super sexy.

Therese: Heee. It is isn't it? The pashmina, I mean. And I know. The bag kind of made me hyperventilate too. And while the boots are not on the same comfort level as my runners, they are relatively comfy... for heeled boots ;)

Mycaelus: Sure thing! I just need to know your hand measurements and what colour you want ;) Oh, and you're right. They ARE super sexy.

That is some totally outrageous Parisian fashion, you crazy fashionista! And let the Vegans whine all they want to.... some lucky Parisian got to eat a steak, and some lucky Canadian got a purse! I think that cow would be proud.

Monkey- I couldn't agree more. I mean, we did use all of it's parts... waste not want not ;)

Dana- I thought you might.

Since wool is an animal product, and technically speaking, cotton plants come into existence because of the work of insects (fertilization), how are vegans allowed to wear natural fibres? Can they only where human-made fabrics?

*(please note that I am basing these questions on the argument that vegans cannot eat honey because it is the product of animal labour. I realize that not all vegans hold this view.)
